Torrance House Junior Golf Academy

Torrance House Golf Club launched its Junior Golf Academy 2007, working in partnership with PGA ClubGolf (Scotland) and South Lanarkshire Leisure.

The primary objective of the Junior Academy is youth development, under the formal structure of PGA ClubGolf, taking children from the age of 9 to 18. ClubGolf is the most exciting and far-reaching junior golf development programme ever undertaken in Scotland. It is the legacy of Scotland´s Ryder Cup bid during which the Scottish Executive pledged that by 2009, it would have created the opportunity for every child in Scotland to have an introduction to the game of golf by the time they are nine years old.

The aims of ClubGolf can be summarised as follows:

  • An introduction to golf by age 9 in primary schools
  • A customised approach to taking golf into the community, including social inclusion partnership areas.
  • A core programme of skills, learning, practice, and play for 9-15 year old boys and girls
  • Coaching and competition for the talented golfers at regional and national level
  • Specialist support for our potential international and professional players

A student´s progression, through the various coaching levels will be based on technical ability, gauged by continuous coaching assessment, competitive handicaps and meeting formal standards, set by the Junior Academy, through the ClubGolf program
