Elizabeth Donald tells me that the time of year has arrived for placing orders for CrossReach Christmas Cards and Calendars.  See Elizabeth in the Hall of Fellowship after the service and she will be glad to take your order.

This evening at 6.30pm a short communion service will be held in Abbey Lodge Care Home.  All who wish to attend are welcome.

Kirk Lunches resume on Tuesday 18thSeptember at 11.30am.  If it’s not already in your diary then now’s the time to mark it in.

Leisure Club also resume on Tuesday 18that 2pm with a musical afternoon with Harvey Littlejohn.

Next Sunday 23rdSeptember Rev Stewart Smith will be taking the morning service.

If you are into your Big Band Sound then put Friday 28thSeptember in your diary.  Westwood Big Band that rehearses in our church halls are putting on an open concert from 1.30 to 3pm.  Halls need to be vacated by 3pm.  There is no charge for the concert but afternoon teas provided by the church will be available.  Bring your dancing shoes!

Ways & Means Committee are arranging for a Nearly New Clothing and Shoe sale on Saturday 6thOctober.  We are glad of your donations of any nearly new items, which can be brought into the church at any time.

Harvest Thanksgiving takes place on Sunday 7thOctober.  As in previous years we will be supporting the work of Loaves and Fishes through donations of tinned produce.  The table is already in place in the Hall of Fellowship to receive your donations.  Loaves and Fishes are also looking for donations of shirts and ties for the men whop dine at the Oasis Café in Renfield St. Stephen’s Church Glasgow. Being smartly dressed while dinning out helps to restore a sense of dignity and self-worth.

A Pilgrimage to Dryburgh Abbey with High Tea at Carfraemill Hotel is now confirmed for Tuesday 23rdOctober.  Cost is £15 per person, which is the cost of the High Tea all other costs are covered through existing funds.  If you wish to take part in the pilgrimage please enter your name on the list in the Hall of Fellowship by Sunday 30thSeptember after which we may not be able to guarantee a place on the bus.

Those who took part in the service for the Renewal of Baptismal Vows may be glad to know that the retiring collection in Support of Kilbryde Hospice realised £552.93

SoundRoutes Singers resume their weekly rehearsals in our church on Monday 17thSeptember from 8pm.  This is a change of date from that previously intimated.  They welcome new members whatever their singing ability might be.

Mark, Stephen and Rev Kev along with Jet and “Shug the dug” completed their 10 mile and more hike across Whitelee windfarm and wish to thank everyone who so kindly sponsored the walk.  Many who offered sponsorship have already handed in their contribution.  Outstanding sponsorship is warmly received.

The South Parish Church, from which Westwood was established, is hosting a 60thanniversary concert with music group Octave on Saturday 29thSeptember at 7.30pm.  If you wish to attend tickets at £10 can be purchased in advance.  Posters around the church will give you more information or search for the event on our church website
