Young or Old, well older, you can do something to help overcome the desperation of those who are homeless
spending their nights on the streets or perhaps in hostels to shelter from the cold and the dangers of sleeping rough. On Saturday 8th December, when outside temperatures are undoubtedly going to be low the Big Sleep Out and Wee Sleep out take place. These events encourage those who have a concern for the homeless to sleep out at prearranged places in part to experience what sleeping rough can be like but also to help make things better for those who are sleeping rough every night.
Being young and homeless and sleeping rough might remind you of a certain biblical story celebrated each year at the end of December so maybe as Christian churches we might want to be involved in an event like this.
If you want to take part head over to the “Sleep in the Park” website. There are four city venues Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee & Aberdeen. Every chance then there’s one near you! The Glasgow event is help in Kelvingrove Park.
