Thank you to all who sponsored Mark, Stephen and Rev Kev on the walk across Whitelee windfarm. Here’s a few photos from our journey on Sunday 2nd September 2018. By the way sponsorship raised around £500.
Looking back toward the Ardochrig car park we had left 30 seconds earlier!
Mark surveys the first hill we climbed. What hill you say. Honestly we needed ropes to scale it.
One of several sign posts along the way. Don’t believe them. The offer false hope that you are nearing your destination.
Mile upon weary mile of desolate track. And this was it on a busy day!
Windmills with Shug in the foreground for size comparison.
More inaccurate signs. Someone must have calculated distances using a piece of string.
Street names! Who would have believed there’s actually street names out here.
Man’s best friend… cause they never tell the wife where you’ve been all day.
Stephen said it was all too easy. He could even do it with his eyes shut
Mark, with his bad back, was way fitter that either Stephen or myself. At least one of us would get back to raise the alarm
Here’s a tip. If you are ever stranded at the wind farm in the dead of winter you can keep warm over the heat exchanger below the windmill steps. Why aren’t they recycling the waste heat. Green energy???!
Beginning? End? Somewhere in the middle? Who knows. It all looks the same.
Shug built this cairn all by himself. Jet was off chasing birds.
Left. Right. And somewhere else but who knows where?
No one can get lost at the windfarm. All the roads are clearly marked
10 miles? And some!
That last hill up to the visitor centre is a real killer. Stephen’s gammie knee was barely up to it. We didn’t help him though as not to lower his self-esteem.
Past the final gate. Mark and Stephen pose for the final photo with hordes from the Church in the background cheering us past the finish line.
